The Chancellor’s Science Scholars Program is at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and related fields. Created in 2013, the program supports a diverse group of high-achieving undergraduate students who have an interest in pursuing a PhD or combined MD/PhD in STEM and an interest in the advancement of underrepresented minorities in the sciences and related fields.
This position is located in the Chancellors Science Scholars Program within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Program Coordinator will coordinate retention, undergraduate research, and graduate placement initiatives for junior and senior UNC-CH Chancellor’s Science Scholars. The coordinator will help the students develop the skills needed to excel in STEM majors at UNC and to move into top MD/PhD programs. The coordinator is responsible for monitoring the success of the students and also for identifying any potential issues, working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, the Office of Diversity and Multi-cultural Affairs, the Graduate School, and UNC Career Services as well as with the CSS leadership group.
