Assistant Professor at The Department of Liberal Studies
The Department of Liberal Studies (DLS) in Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 2024. We seek applicants with a relevant doctoral degree and experience teaching English to D/HH students. The applicant should be fluent in American Sign Language, and have active program of scholarship in Applied Linguistics, Deaf Education, Second Language Acquisition or related field. ABD doctoral candidates with evidence of defended dissertation proposal will also be considered.

Research Associate Professor at the National Institute for the Deaf
The position can be renewed annually after the first 2 years depending on sponsored programming funding. This is a two-year Associate Research Faculty position, non-tenure track, at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Renewal beyond two years will be dependent upon obtaining external funding.
The Associate Research Professor’s primary duties involve applying for external funds, leading research projects, and maintaining sponsored research funding. The position can be renewed annually depending on sponsored programming funding. The Associate Research Professor will have an appointment in the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Education and will report to the Director the NTID Research Center on Culture and Language (CCL). The mission of CCL is to promote sign language access and education through research, development, and mentorship focusing on communities of sign language users’ cultural and linguistic characteristics and processes.

Lecturer at The Department of Science and Mathematics
The Department of Science and Mathematics at the National Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is seeking to fill a 9-month lecturer (non-tenure-track) faculty position in the field of mathematics. The successful candidate will provide tutoring support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students enrolled in baccalaureate-level environmental science, biology, and health sciences courses. They will provide direction instruction in environmental science, biology, and health science coursework, as needed, to students in associate-level programs. They should already be proficient in American Sign Language as determined by the college sign language proficiency rating system and will use ASL to instruct students. Applicants must fulfill other faculty expectations including those related to service, communication, and diversity.

The new interpreting Lecturer will teach interpreting skills courses in the ASL-English Interpreter Education Program, attend professional development activities, participate in communication development activities, and serve the department, institute and the community as needed.
