The University of Rochester’s Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks to hire an outstanding instructional track faculty member. The position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the Instructional Track. Applicants must be dedicated teachers with the ability to be the primary instructor in upper-level undergraduate courses broadly including mechanical design, modern simulation techniques and manufacturing. Expertise running undergraduate laboratories that include fabrication and experimentation, or significant related industry experience is desired. This faculty position includes responsibilities primarily in undergraduate instruction with opportunities in graduate instruction, as well as in collaborative and independent research, especially related to instruction. The individual will also serve on various departmental committees as well as advise undergraduates. A preference will be given to those applicants with a strong record of instruction, such as development of classes or short courses with hands-on experience.

Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 (9-month salary)

The referenced pay range represents the full base range of pay for this job. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and should have considerable teaching/mentoring experience.
