The Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Interactive Games and Media (IGM) invites applications for the position of School Director, to begin in July 2026. IGM is one of the academic units within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT. IGM has grown to 29 faculty, over 800 students, and four degrees: BS and MS in Game Design and Development (with a BS/MS dual degree option), a BS in New Media Interactive Development, and participation in the college-wide PhD program.
RIT has been a leader in the field of game design and development and in new media interactive development, e.g., with RIT ranked 3rd in the 2026 US News national rankings for its game design program. With its portfolio of degrees, IGM is at the forefront of research and education on how games and new media intersect and inform fields of AI, VR/AR/XR, disaster resilience, cybersecurity, digital twins, simulation, visualization, society & culture, and more. The IGM Director will guide the direction of the discipline and prepare the next generation of computing professionals for this future.

A candidate must demonstrate their accomplishment in the field and must be known and respected by their peers in order to exercise leadership of an award winning, cutting-edge, collegial, and motivated professional community working with a global footprint. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education, as well as the ability to provide leadership and support for faculty research, scholarship, and curriculum development.
