Lecture Position Description The Department of Chemistry at Yale University (New Haven, CT) invites applications for the position of Lecturer. We seek a creative, Ph.D. level, educator who will be able to assume a central role in the teaching of general-chemistry laboratories and lecture, as well as more advanced courses in the chemistry major. Chemical educators with experience in designing and implementing undergraduate laboratory experiments, lecture materials, assessments, supervising teaching assistants, teaching small and large courses are encouraged to apply. Position responsibilities may be tailored to individual interests in chemical education, lab and assessment development, and chemical education research, through affiliation with our renowned Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning (https://poorvucenter.yale.edu/). Preceptor Position Description The Department of Chemistry at Yale University (New Haven, CT) invites applications for two (2) Preceptor positions (https://chem.yale.edu/preceptorships-chemistry). One position will focus on General Chemistry lecture and lab and the other on Organic Chemistry lecture and lab. Preceptors are recent chemistry Ph.D. graduates interested in developing their career as a chemical educator. Preceptors participate in undergraduate teaching, with specific responsibilities that may include guiding discussion and laboratory sections, assisting instructors of record to design and deliver course content and assessment tasks, contributing to the training of graduate-student teaching assistants, participating in the development of new laboratory modules, conducting regular review sessions, and grading. Preceptors gain the professional skills required for a career in chemical education by working closely with faculty members. Preceptors are encouraged to further pursue their professional development through the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning (https://poorvucenter.yale.edu/), and to avail themselves of opportunities to participate in research in education.
