The UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is recruiting a Senior Associate Director of Instructor Engagement and Educational Development, who reports to the Director of Instructor Engagement and Educational Development (IEED). The Senior Associate Director provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, administration, and assessment of educational development programs, services, and resources that promote inclusive excellence in teaching across undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. The position leads initiatives that strengthen instructor engagement through workshops, consultations, learning communities, classroom observation programs, teaching resources, and pedagogical pathways that support continuous instructional improvement. The Senior Associate Director also advances the effective use of modernized learning spaces, collaborates with campus partners to expand educational development initiatives, and contributes to institutional priorities related to teaching innovation, artificial intelligence, digital accessibility, and evidence-based instructional practices.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to leading the development, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of educational development programs and services; overseeing pedagogical programming that supports modernized learning spaces and innovative teaching practices; designing and expanding classroom observation and formative feedback initiatives; engaging instructors, departments, and professional schools in evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices; collaborating with campus and UC partners to strengthen educational development programming and strategic partnerships; supervising and mentoring professional staff; utilizing assessment findings to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement; and representing the Teaching and Learning Center on campus, UC systemwide, and national committees focused on teaching and learning.

In addition, responsibilities include developing instructional resources, consultations, workshops, institutes, and learning communities that support faculty across all stages of their teaching development; promoting instructor engagement through scalable pedagogical pathways and outreach initiatives; collaborating with colleagues to integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital accessibility, into educational development programming; contributing to institutional strategic planning related to teaching and learning; supporting grant-funded initiatives and research on educational development and the scholarship of teaching and learning; presenting at professional conferences; and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusive excellence that advances UCLA’s mission of teaching and learning.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement consistent with UCLA and Teaching and Learning Center policies. The incumbent must reside in the state of California (or be willing to relocate) and is currently expected to work on campus a minimum of three days per week.
