Wisconsin Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (WiscLSAMP) was established in 2004 to increase the number and diversity of STEM graduates in the state of WI. Since then, WiscLSAMP has evolved into an alliance with 18 institutions collectively providing first-year undergraduate through graduate programming. Across the alliance, highly committed STEM faculty, senior administrators, and academic staff provide direct support and programming to connect students that participate in WiscLSAMP programming with research opportunities, internship opportunities, faculty mentors, and resources to support academic success and persistence into STEM graduate programs and careers.

The WiscLSAMP Director leads and facilitates these efforts through implementation of evidence-based and evaluation-informed program approaches that increase access and retention while supporting persistence and pursuit of academic excellence for underrepresented groups in STEM. The WiscLSAMP Director also leads and coordinates collaborations in project development to leverage opportunities for funding, increase access to resources, and promote professional development and programming for alliance partners. Grant writing, complex project development and management, and some state-wide travel to Alliance institutions to nurture and advance relationships are key functions of the position.

WiscLSAMP is funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF) and receives additional resources from UW-Madison (since 2004) and UW-System (since 2009).
