Learn what a teaching philosophy statement is, brainstorm what you might write about in yours, and draft your own statement in this self-paced workshop. In this workshop, you can expect to:
- Understand the role that teaching statements play in the job search process
- Explore conventions of effective teaching statements for the job market
- Identify teaching experiences and effective practices that you can incorporate into your teaching statement
- Review sample statements to build awareness of how to write an effective teaching statement
- Draft or revise your own teaching philosophy statement
We expect this self-paced workshop will take participants about 4 hours to complete.
Audience & registration
This self-paced workshop is designed for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, but generally relevant to anyone looking for help writing their first teaching philosophy statement. Workshop access is limited to participants at CIRTL member institutions, or alumni of CIRTL programs. When registering, you will be asked to confirm your current institution and your alumni status in order to confirm your eligibility for this workshop.
