Elon University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Mechanical Engineering beginning in mid-August 2025.

The successful candidate will support the existing BS in Engineering degree and the creation of a new major in Mechanical Engineering. Potential for excellence in teaching lower-level undergraduate engineering courses is essential, as is integrating undergraduate students into a research agenda, advising and mentoring students, and contributing to the growth of the engineering program. Responsibilities include teaching a range of engineering courses as well as non-major courses for Elon’s Core Curriculum. Both an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in engineering or related discipline are required. ABD candidates will be considered with completion by starting date.

Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people are encouraged to identify their experiences in contributing to a climate of inclusivity in their cover letters. Elon is a dynamic private, coeducational, comprehensive institution that is a national model for actively engaging faculty and students in teaching and learning in a liberal art based residential campus.
