The Rochester Institute of Technology School of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer. The position is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment that would begin January 6, 2025, and is generally renewable annually.
The primary responsibility of the position is teaching introductory physics in an activity-based, workshop format. The minimum qualifications are a PhD in physics or a closely related discipline, evidence of effective and successful recent teaching, potential to succeed in an active-learning workshop-style classroom, and strong communication skills. Although not required, experience and strong interest in teaching undergraduate astronomy courses or laboratory-based physics courses are also desirable. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the start and continuing through the duration of the appointment. Familiarity with current trends in undergraduate physics education is desirable. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available.
