Job Description:
The Biology Department at Austin College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position in Biology at the Visiting Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2023. This appointment is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal. We seek a broadly trained molecular or cellular biologist whose teaching and research interests will complement those of our faculty. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory biology, non-major’s science, and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. (ABD acceptable), a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and the potential to engage undergraduates in research through coursework. The standard teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester (2 courses that include lecture and accompanying lab). The successful candidate will have strong commitments to innovative teaching in a liberal arts environment and to fostering and encouraging diversity in their classroom through their pedagogy. Supervision of undergraduate research projects is also a possibility, depending on interest and experience.
Additional Information:This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, instructional faculty position which will be a one-year, visiting assistant appointment. Salary will be consistent with campus-wide salary structure with benefits to accompany this position. A successful background investigation is required.
