The Department of Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University seeks one or two full-time teaching faculty members to support the direction of its entry-level courses (precalculus through linear algebra and differential equations) as well as the broader undergraduate experience in mathematics. Our intention is for these to be long-term hires. Teaching-track ranks at JHU are Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Teaching Professor, and Teaching professor. The initial appointment will be at a rank commensurate with experience, and the positions are eligible for eventual promotion through these ranks.
Responsibilities will include instruction and instructional design, course coordination, curriculum and technology innovation, and participation in the delivery of professional development of instructors and TAs. We view this as a dynamic position: the successful candidate will join a team of teaching faculty who have significant latitude in the coming years to revise and re-imagine our existing program and who have already initiated substantive revision to better serve our undergraduate education mission. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching and teaching innovation. - an interest in establishing a long-term teaching career with the Department, and the administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to coordinate large courses
